With the first-ever electric thermo cups now on sale in the UK, and a handful of other countries, the question of whether it will be possible to have a small, compact, and efficient device that works in the future remains.
But if you’re not a fan of the idea of having to take a full-sized thermometer to your fridge or freezer to make sure you’ve got the right amount of water in it, or you’re just looking for a better way to make coffee, there’s still the option of making your own.
Here’s how to do it, and what you need to know to get started.
The basic idea of using a thermos to heat a small space The first thing to realise about making a thermo is that the thermo has to be big.
That means it needs to be able to heat at least two cubic metres of water, which is about 3,500 litres.
That’s a lot more than most people would need to use up.
The thermo’s dimensions can also be limited by the size of the cup you want to use it in, so the ideal is that it should fit in a standard thermo-sized cup, but it should be capable of holding more than half a litre of water.
There are several types of thermos available, but we’re going to use the thermos we use to make our own for the sake of simplicity, and to highlight how big and efficient it can be.
The biggest and most efficient type of thermo We’ve already talked about the main components that make up a thermometer, but you don’t need to look any further than the actual size of a therma-cup to realise that the most efficient ones are the one you buy in the supermarket.
You can get a cheap thermos that’s around two litres in size, or a more expensive one that’s five or six times as big.
