Sen. Bob Corker to endorse Ivanka Trump as first woman president
Corker is expected to endorse his wife, Ivanka Trump, as the first woman to serve as the 45th president of the United States, The Hill reported Tuesday.
Corker is one of the most outspoken Republican senators, having recently come under fire for his criticism of President Donald Trump, whom Corker once called a “disgrace.”
The Tennessee Republican, who is a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, is expected as a member to vote for the president.
Corker said last week that he would not endorse the president if he did not support her, The New York Times reported.
Corker has come under criticism in recent months for his hard line on Russia and the former secretary of state’s relationship with former President Donald J. Trump.
He previously accused the former president of “playing the Russians for suckers.”
Corker has been a fierce critic of Trump’s handling of national security, including his response to the Russia investigation.
In a January speech, he called the former President a “dangerous dictator.”
