Amazon is launching a thermos and drink cup sealed with a seal of sorts in the US
The Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) said on Monday that it is expanding its thermos sales in the United States and Europe and will begin selling sealed thermos cups and thermos capsules in early 2018.
The Amazon Echo speaker also makes an appearance in the new sealed thermo offerings.
The thermos will be priced at $99.99 for a 10-ounce, 12-ounce and 24-ounce sealed container and $199.99, $299.99 and $399.99 respectively.
The thermos capsule will feature a seal that will prevent air from leaking in, the Amazon spokesman said.
Amazon is also offering a $49.99 sealed thermometer for the thermos.
The Amazon thermos is designed to be filled with water and heated by a timer, the company said in a statement.
The sealed thermic is designed for use with the Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Amazon Fire TV and Echo Show.
The $79.99 thermos comes with a silicone cup, which Amazon says is designed “to hold your drink and heat it up in just a few seconds.”
The Amazon Echo is Amazon’s most recent speaker to debut sealed therms, which can also be used with its Fire TV or Echo Show speakers.
Amazon has not said how many of its thermo-based speakers will be available.
The Thermomaker seal-and-cover concept comes at a time when thermos-based devices are being eyed by consumers as an alternative to traditional coffee or tea, or even bottled water.
Amazon’s Thermometer thermos uses a sealed thermostat that heats up the thermostatically controlled liquid.
Amazon also has a Thermophoto thermos, which it said can heat a thermostately controlled cup of coffee.
The company’s thermos has been on sale since late April.
The new Amazon thermo is the first sealed thermis to appear in the U.S. since June.
